Vandals destroy basketball goals in Versailles

(VERSAILLES, Ind.) – Vandals have recently destroyed basketball goals at Pangburn Park in Versailles, again.

Main Street Versailles spent $900 this spring to install steel basketball backboards and goals.

The rims were broken a short time after they were welded back together.

Now, at least one person decided to totally destroy the backboards and goals.

“But, fortunately, the town recently installed a new camera system that cost $4,500 and it has produced a clear picture of an offender,” the Town of Versailles said.

Town officials are calling for the vandalism to stop and encourage anyone with information to call Versailles Town Marshal Joe Mann at (812) 689-6122.

Main Street Versailles has donated another $300 to install break-away rims and the Town will cover the cost of the gals and chain nets.
