Happened near Versailles on Sunday

(VERSAILLES, Ind.) – A local farmer is safe after nearly being exposed to an anhydrous ammonia leak.
The incident happened on County Road 175 West in Versailles around 3 p.m. Sunday.
Friendship firefighters say there was a busted connection between a nurse tank and applicator on an anhydrous ammonia tank.
“ The operator was able to escape the tractor without inhaling any of the product or sustaining any other injuries,” firefighters said.
The nurse tank was not full and bled off within minutes. The tank was secured so any remaining product was contained.
“Short of losing the value of the fertilizer, a good outcome that could have been much worse,” firefighters added.
