(AURORA, Ind.) — An Aurora resident is hoping to children in the region to never give up.

Emily Sperringer has always dreamed of becoming an author, and because she didn’t give up, her lifelong goal has turned into reality.

Sperringer recently published ‘Dr. Honey’ and the book combines some experiences she’s had along with messages of family, resilience and purpose.

Several years ago, Emily’s mom was diagnosed with cancer and fought the illness for a decade.

Emily was often assisting her mom and even developed an interest in the medical field where she earned a college degree. Those experiences also taught her the importance of unwavering family support and helping others heal.

She has used those lessons to write ‘Dr. Honey’ which follows a family of bees who face a similar situation as to what Emily did several years ago.

“Dr. Honey is a heartfelt, inspiring children’s story about resilience, love, and discovering purpose through life’s hardest moments. Filled with warmth, wisdom, and delightful bee facts, this story gently teaches young readers the power of kindness, determination, and never giving up,” she said.

Sperringer spent more than 5 years writing the book and she hopes it inspires kids to not give up when life gets hard.

“I don’t want a child to give up on a sport just because they don’t like the coach, or to stop trying in school because they failed a test. You should never give up and if there is something you believe you can do, then go do it,” Sperringer told The 812.

The book also includes fun facts about bees. Sperringer plans to begin writing a sequel as well.
