(WALDRON, Ind.) – Services have been announced for South Decatur Elementary Assistant Principal Jake Rader.
The 41-year-old died unexpectedly after his motorcycle was struck by a vehicle in Versailles on Friday.
Rader spent 16 years in education with the first decade being at Waldron Elementary.
He later became the assistant principal at South Decatur Elementary and it was a role he cherished.
“He dedicated his life to serving children and helping them discover their potential,” his family said.
Jake was a lifelong member of Ben Davis Creek Christian Church and had served there as a deacon.
“He lived out his beliefs through kindness, humility, and service to others. He was the person people called when they needed advice, encouragement, help with a project, or simply someone to listen” his family said.
He is survived by his wife, Amber, three children, one grandchild, his parents, stepfather, Marty, and siblings.
Visitation will be held at Cornerstone Christian Fellowship in Waldron from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 11.
Funeral services will be held at Cornerstone Christian Fellowship at 10:30 a.m. on Friday.
“Though his time here was far too short, the legacy Jake leaves behind is extraordinary. He
leaves a world better than he found it, and his influence will continue to live on through the
family he cherished, the students he inspired, the friends he supported, and the many people
whose lives are forever changed because they knew him,” his family said.
