(FRIENDSHIP, Ind.) – The 26th annual Biggin Bash was held in Friendship on Saturday.
The massive party begins every year with a salute to those who serve both the country and community.
It is organized by Renegades lead singer Brian ‘Biggin’ Noble who presents an award to someone in the community every year.
Last year, the festival honored Ripley County Sheriff's Office Lieutenant Randy Holt while he was battling cancer. Holt passed away just one month later.
It led Noble to create the ‘Randy L. Holt Memorial Award of Excellence’ which will be presented every year at the festival.
Noble announced Friendship Fire Chief Keith Sieverding as the first-ever recipient of the award on Saturday afternoon.
“When there is a fire in a home he runs toward that fire. When there is an accident and someone is pinned and everyone wants to run away, he runs toward it,” Noble said.
Noble followed that by presenting a $10,000 check to P.G. Gentrup and the Vietnam Veterans of America Lary D. Fogle Chapter 71. The money was raised by people who attend the festival.
Noble is part of the Southeastern Indiana Musicians Hall of Fame and incorporates music throughout the event. The festival began with the National Anthem being sung by Nashville artist Rachel Holt.
