(WEST HARRISON, Ind.) – A local family is alive after a scary crash on I-74 in Dearborn County on Tuesday.
“It was my husband, me and our three children in the car and this should have been a fatal crash,” Callie told The 812.
The family, who wishes to remain anonymous, were traveling from Shelbyville to Cincinnati yesterday afternoon.
“I ended up hydroplaning and hit a log that was on the side of the road that sent us rolling into the trees,” she said.
A few people stopped and checked on them before the ambulances arrives.
“The EMT’s were amazed we weren’t in worse condition. We walked away with a few scratches, mild hip injury, and bruises. But we are so thankful to be alive and be able to walk away from this,” she explained.
She is sharing her family's story with the hope that another driver takes heed of the dangers of driving during heavy rain.
“Leave sooner to get to your destination safely, and definitely don’t take life for granted cause I never would've thought this would happen to us but it did,” she added.
