101-year-old former faculty member reads books to students in Tennessee

Was part of "Read Across America" program

(JACKSON, TN.) – A Tennessee elementary school invited a 101-year-old to read to students this past week. 


Margaret Savage is the only known faculty member that is still living since Washington Douglass Elementary School in Jackson opened in 1952. 


The school invited Savage to read a children’s book to students as part of “Read Across America. 


Savage taught at Washington Douglass from 1952 to 1992.
