11-year-old girl recovered during Columbus search

(COLUMBUS, Ind.) – The body of the 11-year-old girl who drowned in Columbus has been recovered.
First responders located the body of Athena Lyons on Thursday morning.
The girl was last seen in the East Fork of the White River near Mill Race Park around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Crews spent the past two days searching for her.
""The tragedy at Mill Race Park has been incredibly difficult for the family of the child, first responders, and all of the Columbus community. The City of Columbus extends its deepest sympathy to her family, friends, and all those who had the privilege to know her," said Columbus Mayor Mary Ferndon.
Agencies that were involved included the Columbus Fire Department, Columbus Police Department, Bartholomew County Sheriff's Office, Columbus Township Fire Department, Wayne Township Volunteer Fire Department, and the Department of Natural Resources.
