(COLUMBUS, Ind.) – Nine people were arrested after a multi-agency warrant sweep in Bartholomew County on Tuesday.
The sweep was part of the Joint Narcotics Enforcement Task Force (JNET) which is a combined effort between the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office and the Columbus Police Department.
The majority of the arrests were for dealing methamphetamine.
Bartholomew County Sheriff Chris Lane said these raids are part of the continued fight against drugs, especially those distributing narcotics.
“As your Sheriff, one of my top priorities is aggressive narcotics enforcement. The work that JNET does combating the dealing of narcotics in our community cannot be understated. Taking drug dealers off the streets has an outsize impact on not only the availability of narcotics but also the other underlying crime in Bartholomew County,” said Sheriff Chris Lane.
The warrant services involved 20 patrolmen and detectives from both the Sheriff’s Office and Columbus Police Dept with support from the Intelligence Unit.
JNET was established in 2015 and relies on community involvement and tips to help curb the flow of illegal drugs in the county.
