Annual Decatur County Youth Running Club hosts 111 children

There were 35 volunteers who assisted during the camp

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – The Decatur County Youth Running Club had its largest turnout ever last week with 111 kids participating.
The annual 4-day camp welcomes second graders through eighth graders to participate in running games, stretches, and warm-ups.
This year also featured 35 volunteers which consisted of high school runners, college athletes and area coaches.
Some of those involved included former Franklin College track coach Paul Sargent, Hanover College track coach Brady Wells, Batesville track coach Lisa Gausman, life-long runner Lauren Gill, DCMH dietician Melissa Yake and Greensburg High School runners Xavier Cassis and Alaina Bedel.
Each day consisted of different activities leading up to a one-mile race for specific age groups on Friday. The top 3 girls and top 3 boys in each age group earned gold, silver, and bronze medals for their performances.
Each participant received a water bottle, backpack, and certificate at the end of the week.
