(AURORA, Ind.) – A local fire department is giving back to an organization that helps the less fortunate.
The Dearborn County Clearinghouse is a food pantry that has experienced a spike in clients over the past few months.
It came as the Clearinghouse lost a federal grant and also saw a 50 percent drop in local donations this year.
The Aurora Fire Department recently provided a $1,200 donation to the food pantry. The money was raised during the annual Fire Responders Chicken Fry.
The Clearinghouse executive director Karry Hollan says the organization desires financial donations over actual food, because they get discounts on the food they purchase.
