Aurora woman: From high school dropout to published author

(AURORA, Ind.) – A Dearborn County woman is living proof that you can accomplish anything you put your mind to. 

31-year-old Kaitlynn Taylor attended South Dearborn High School but dropped out when she became pregnant her senior year in 2014. 

“Although my path through education wasn’t traditional, I didn’t let that stop me from eventually finishing my education,” Taylor said.

She later earned her high school diploma from River Valley Resources in 2024.

Taylor and her husband are now successfully raising four children and she recently decided it was time to pursue a lifelong passion.

She has always enjoyed writing and had a goal of one day becoming an author. One of her biggest interests have been crime shows and suspense thrillers. 

Kaitlynn has just published her first-ever novel called ‘The Perfect Flame’ and it will be part of a larger series called The Kane Files. 

‘The Perfect Flame’ involves a forensic investigator named Rowan Kane who has been tasked with bringing a dangerous serial arsonist to justice. There’s just one problem – Kane is the serial arsonist.

Taylor is already working on the second book of the Kane Files and it will be called ‘Blood Trail.’

“I never expected that I would actually become a published author. Writing started as something I wanted to try, and eventually I decided to take the leap and self-publish my work on Amazon,” Taylor said. 

She added, “I’ve already had 5 orders since its release. While that may not sound like a huge number to some, as a first-time, completely self-published local author, seeing people actually purchase and read something I created has been incredibly exciting for me.”
