Ohio Co. officials to conduct training at Arnold's Creek Boat Ramp

(RISING SUN, Ind.) – Ohio County emergency officials will conduct a full-scale emergency response exercise at Arnold’s Creek Boat Camp this weekend.
It will take place beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday, October 24.
The training is being coordinated by Ohio County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC), Ohio County Emergency Management Agency, and local emergency response partners.
“The exercise is designed to evaluate emergency response capabilities, strengthen coordination among participating agencies, and provide responders with realistic, hands-on training in a controlled environment,” organizers said.
Participating agencies may include law enforcement, fire departments, emergency medical services, emergency management, dispatch personnel, and other local and regional response partners.
During the exercise, residents and motorists may notice an increased presence of emergency vehicles, personnel, and equipment in the surrounding area. Simulated emergency situations and response activities may also be visible.
“This is a planned training exercise. There is no actual emergency or threat to public safety associated with the exercise,” officials added.
Residents are asked to avoid the immediate exercise area when possible and follow any temporary traffic or access instructions provided by participating agencies.
The Ohio County LEPC conducts emergency preparedness activities to improve coordination, communication, and response capabilities during emergencies that could affect the community.
