(COLUMBUS, Ind.) – A Bartholomew County veteran was recently recognized by Our Hospice during a ceremony.
Family ,friends and staff gathered to recognize Bob Haddad, Sr., for his time in the United States Armed Forces.
The ceremony was led by retired U.S. Air Force Major General Mark Pillar who presented Haddad with a commemorative pin.
“By honoring veterans like Bob Haddad Sr. who served their country and our community, we surround them with love, respect, and honor—Making Every Moment Count and delivering what matters most to them by staying true to our values,” said Our Hospice President Steph Cain.
The ceremony was part of the “We Honor Veterans” ceremony that is held by Our Hospice, which serves the Southeast Indiana area.
As part of the national WHV initiative, Our Hospice provides specialized end-of-life care that addresses the unique physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of veterans. The program connects veteran-to-veteran volunteers, develops individualized care plans, and holds public recognition ceremonies—ensuring every veteran’s service is acknowledged.
In addition to a pin, each honored veteran receives a handcrafted wooden plaque made by local high school students in the C4 program. General Pillar and other dedicated WHV volunteers visit with these students, reminding them that what they create is more than just a block of wood—it’s a lasting symbol of appreciation and respect for the men and women who have safeguarded our freedoms.
