(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – Batesville Fire & Rescue welcomed two new firefighters to the department on Monday night.
Fire Chief Brian Hardebeck conducted a swearing-in ceremony for Scott Holmes and Derrik Justice.
“Over the past year, these gentlemen have made numerous achievements in advancing their knowledge and sharing that knowledge with their fellow brothers and sisters,” Chief Hardebeck said.
Holmes attended the emergency paramedic program at Franciscan Health and has led numerous department and joint trainings, built several hands-on training aids, and also mentors young firefighters.
Justice has numerous certifications and has led several department and joint trainings, including Hazmat Awareness and Ops, FireFighter I and II and will host a FOST class this fall.
Justice was also one of five first responders who were recognized on Monday for saving the life of a Batesville priest this summer.
