Batesville grad named Bulldogs varsity softball coach

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – A former Batesville softball standout will now lead the varsity program. 

Stacey Kessens has been named the Bulldogs new head softball coach after serving as an assistant coach between 2017-2021. 

During her playing career, Kessens was a 4-year varsity letter winner, a 3-time all-EIAC player and a 2008 Academic All-State selection. 

BHS athletic director Bryan Helvie said the passion Kessens has for Batesville softball will be a positive influence on the entire program. 

Kessens calls it a full-circle moment to go from player to coach, and she is humbled and excited to lead the program into the future. 

“I'm most excited about building something — a culture where these student-athletes are pushed to be their best, on the field and off it,” Kessens said. “I want players to look back on their time in this program as one of the best experiences of their high school days and elevate Batesville softball to be a formidable opponent every night out.”

Kessens received a degree in Business Management from Purdue University in 2012 and is currently employed at Batesville Casket.
