South Ripley grad named BHS baseball coach

(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – A South Ripley graduate and former college baseball player has been named the Bulldogs head coach. 

Jared Keck will lead the baseball program that is coming off a season where they finished 17-11 and advanced to regionals. 

Keck is a familiar face within the program as he’s served as the assistant coach for the past three seasons. 

After graduating from South Ripley, Keck played baseball at Indiana University Southeast. 

Batesville athletic director Bryan Helvie said Keck is a perfect fit for the program. 

“His passion and drive to carry on a successful tradition of Batesville baseball is a great fit for our student-athletes,” Helvie said. “We are looking forward to watching the baseball program continue to grow under Coach Keck’s leadership.”

Winning isn’t the only priority for Keck. His main goal is to guide the student-athletes to be successful on-and-off the field in life. 

“I look forward to giving back to a game that has given me so much. I’m especially thankful for the support I’ve received from my family and the community throughout the process,” he said. 

He replaces Tyler Burcham who led the program for the past four years. Keck credits Burcham for establishing a winning culture for the Bulldogs.

“With a strong emphasis on communication, commitment, hard work, and accountability—I feel we are in a good position to continue the winning culture Coach Burcham and others before me helped create,” Keck explained. 

Keck is currently employed as a Regional Sales Manager for FPZ.
