Bright Fire Chief credits mutual aid partners after fire

(BRIGHT, Ind.) – The collaboration among fire departments helped save a home in Dearborn County on Wednesday night.

The fire happened around 10:30 p.m. on Murray Road in Bright.

Bright firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke, high heat and significant interior obstacles inside the home.

“Our interior crews were joined by Lawrenceburg Fire, and together they located the fire and controlled its spread,” said Bright Fire Chief Kendall Eberhart.

Greendale and Miller-York subsequently assisted in pulling ceilings to access and extinguished the remaining fire.

“The collaborative effort was exceptional. While the residence sustained some fire and smoke damage, the majority of the home and its contents were saved,” Eberhart said.

These departments recently had a 3-night training to improve collaboration and to work as a unified team during calls similar to last night.

“Such training offers real world training and experience and only furthers our growth together as a team.  It also proves that training together provides the community with the best fire protection we can,” Eberhart said.

Here are the departments that responded to the fire last night:

- Lawrenceburg Fire and EMS

 - Greendale Fire Department

 - Miller-York Fire Department

 - Whitewater Township

 - Miami Township

 - Harrison Fire

 - Crosby Township

 - St. Leon (Tanker Support)

 - Aurora Fire Department (Rehab Services)
