Brookville florist wins prestigious Sylvia Cup, invited to Rose Bowl parade

(BROOKVILLE, Ind.) – A Brookville florist has earned a rare, prestigious industry honor and will also get a unique experience later this year. 

Cindy Hall owns Four Seasons Florist and recently competed in the Sylvia Cup Design Competition in Florida. 

The Sylvia Cup is the longest-running live floral design contest in the United States and showcases the talent and innovation of top floral designers. 

To participate, contestants must win their state-level competition first. 

Cindy was the winner of the 2025 Kentucky Florist Design Cup. She is part of the Kentucky competition because Indiana does not have a floral association. 

During the Sylvia Cup, contestants were challenged with “An Evening at the Copacabana” theme and Cindy’s designs featured bold, bright combinations of flowers and fruit accented with candles and floral mesh. 

“I told my husband that my big centerpiece was an epic fail,” she told the Society of American Florists.

However, the judges saw it differently and named her the winner of the 57th annual Sylvia Cup competition. 

She received $3,000, an engraved trophy, recognition during an awards ceremony and complimentary tickets to the Society of American Florists 2027 convention. 

Hall has also earned the opportunity to participate in an international floral design competition called Gateway to the Americas Cup. It will be held in Brazil in 2028. 

Cindy is the first Indiana or Kentucky florist to ever win the Sylvia Cup, which has taken place since 1967.

There was also a unique connection to her success in the competition. The 57th Sylvia Cup took place on her sister’s 57th birthday — and her sister’s childhood nickname was Sylvia. 

Tournament of Roses 

Cindy has also earned another unique opportunity that will take place later this year. 

She’s been invited to serve on the team that will decorate floats for The Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California.

Her husband, Roy, travels to all her competitions and he’s also been invited to participate in the float designing process.

Roy is not a florist but parade organizers also included him in the invitation to assist with manpower needs. 

They will leave for California the day after Christmas and the Tournament of Roses Parade takes place on New Year’s Day.
