(BROOKVILLE, Ind.) – A brand new mural in Brookville is showcasing the artwork and creativity of many people in the community.
Brookville Main Street came up with the concept of a mural that has 864 individual tiles in recognition of America’s 250th anniversary.
Those 4x4 tiles were distributed to people across the county and each artist had the opportunity to create their own design, while following color guidelines.
New Horizons, 4-H members and the Brookville Garden Club were some of the groups who helped paint the tiles.
They were placed together this week by Franklin County Tourism Director Bev Spurlin, Brookville Main Street Director Christine Craig, and Franklin County Community Foundation director Shelly Lunsford and office manager Katrina Huerkamp.
Spurlin said it took several days to place all the tiles and described the mural as a fantastic addition to the downtown area.
The permanent mural is located on the Coffee On Main building which is at the intersection of Main and Sixth streets.
