(MADISON, Ind.) – A Canaan man is going to prison after being convicted of dealing meth.
Police say they responded to a report of a suspicious person last August and that individual was in possession of methamphetamine.
“Through subsequent investigative measures, law enforcement determined that the methamphetamine had been purchased recently from James Marcus Hammond,” said Jefferson County Prosecutor David Sutter.
A search warrant later led to the discovery of more meth, syringes and evidence that it was being sold, Sutter added.
55-year-old James Hammond has now been sentenced to 20 years in prison for Dealing In Methamphetamine. The prosecutor said this is his third conviction related to selling meth.
“Those who choose to profit from addiction and substance abuse should expect to be held accountable for the harm they cause” said Sutter.
