(BROOKVILLE, Ind.) – People struggling with addiction in the Franklin County Jail will soon have access to treatment and more resources.
The sheriff’s department is partnering with 1 Voice Recovery to offer both group and individual peer support services to men and women inmates.
Officials say addressing substance use issues is an important component to improving public safety, reducing recidivism, and helping individuals successfully reintegrate into the community.
“By providing access to peer support and recovery-focused programming while individuals are incarcerated, we hope to create additional opportunities for long-term success after release,” the sheriff’s department stated.
Sheriff Peter Cates added that he is committed to exploring and implementing programs that support recovery, accountability, and positive outcomes for incarcerated individuals.
“The Franklin County Sheriff's Department appreciates the partnership and ongoing support of 1 Voice Recovery Community as we continue working together to strengthen recovery services within our jail system and throughout Franklin County,” they added.
