Changes coming to U.S. 50/ I-275 intersection in Greendale

(GREENDALE, Ind.) – Intersection improvements will be made at U.S. 50 and State Road 1 in Greendale. 

Crews are expected to begin making the intersection improvements on July 28 and the work is expected to be complete in late September. 

The work includes:

• Reducing the ramp from eastbound U.S. 50 to I-275 from two lanes to one lane

• Installing an additional thru lane from southbound S.R. 1 (Belleview Drive) to I-275, resulting in two thru lanes 

• Island curb reconfiguration work on U.S. 50

• Installing new pavement markings and permanent signage

INDOT officials say the intersection changes will help reduce backups and delays along State Road 1 by allowing more capacity for those entering I-275.

Signage will be placed in the area prior to the start of work.
