Collins files candidacy for District 68 seat

(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.) – A Dearborn County resident has filed to run for the Indiana House of Representatives District 68 seat.

Democrat Hunter Collins filed for his candidacy for the seat which is currently held by Republican Garrett Bascom

Collins says his campaign is focused on lowering the cost of living, revitalizing rural communities, and putting working Hoosiers back at the center of state government.

"For far too long, politics in Indiana has worked for the wealthy and well-connected, rather than the folks that keep our communities running,” Collins said. “I’m running because families are working harder than ever, and are still falling behind. We deserve leaders that will fight for us, not corporate donors and wealthy elites”

Collins says this campaign will prioritize practical, people-first solutions, including lowering everyday costs, expanding access to healthcare, investing in public education, and strengthening local economies and small businesses.

He added that the campaign is about dignity and whether people can live where they grew up.

“Whether your kids can stay in the community after they graduate, and whether we will have representation that shows up when it matters most for the people of District 68,” he added.

Collins emphasized that the campaign will be grassroots-driven, relying on volunteers, small dollar donations, and community engagement rather than corporate PAC money.

Over the coming months, the campaign plans to conduct district-wide outreach, including town halls, community events, and listening sessions across District 68.
