(COLUMBUS, Ind.) – Two people were arrested after police say they found almost a pound of methamphetamine in Columbus.

A traffic stop occurred on Wednesday on I-65 and the Columbus Police deployed a K-9 unit, which alerted to the presence of drugs in the car.

Police say the vehicle search led them to finding marijuana and 49-year-old Benjamin Bracewell and 37-year-old Sylvia Flowers, of Norman, were both arrested.

“Officers also found a round object wrapped in plastic at Flowers’ feet that they believe she tried to discard,” police said.

Investigators say the round object contained two bags.

“One bag contained suspected methamphetamine weighing 449 grams-almost a pound. The other weighed almost 27 grams and contained suspected fentanyl,” police said.

Police say they also found more marijuana and suspected methamphetamine in Flower’s clothing while at the jail.
