DCMH doctor earns Doc Hollywood Award for her compassionate care

Updated: Jun 15

Awarded by Indiana Rural Health Association

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – A Decatur County Memorial Hospital doctor is being recognized for going above and beyond for her patients.

Dr. Jennifer Fletcher received the Doc Hollywood Award from the Indiana Rural Health Association (IRHA) for her compassionate care and commitment to patients in Southeast Indiana.

“The Doc Hollywood vision is about recognizing the many individuals who care professionally for folks in our rural and underserved communities,” said IRHA CEO Cara Veale.  “Dr. Fletcher is a true embodiment of what this award stands for. Her lifelong dedication to improving the health and well-being of rural Hoosiers is both inspiring and impactful.”

Dr. Fletcher also played a key role in establishing DCMH’s Wound Care Clinic, where she continues to provide specialized care for patients with chronic and complex wounds.

From 2004 to 2018, she served as a primary care physician with Tree City Medical Partners.

She has also held several prominent roles, including Vice Chief of Medical Staff, Treasurer, and Chief of Medicine, while serving on various committees.

Dr. Fletcher is an active member of both the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Indiana Academy of Family Physicians.

Jennifer's impact goes far beyond the walls of the hospital. She is an active voice in the community, most recently serving as a featured panelist and participant in a Lunch & Learn event with the Greensburg / Decatur County Chamber of Commerce and Purdue Extension-Decatur County.

“Her presence ensures that our patients don’t have to travel to get the high-quality care they deserve. Expanding and protecting access to care in rural areas is one of our highest priorities, and Dr. Fletcher exemplifies what that looks like in action,” said DCMH President Rex McKinney.

Doc Hollywood Day is held annually to celebrate rural healthcare providers across the country. While it is a day of recognition and celebration, it also shines a light on the continued need for compassionate, skilled providers who are committed to serving rural and underserved populations.
