(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – A Decatur County Memorial Hospital employee has received the prestigious Outstanding Critical Access Hospital Leadership Award.
Ally Metz serves as the Director for Inpatient Services and the Readmissions Reduction Team.
She has played a key role in lowering hospital readmissions by strengthening teamwork and ensuring patients receive the care and support they need to recover fully.
In 2023, DCMH’s hospital readmission rate was 7.76%, meaning nearly 8 out of every 100 patients needed to come back soon after being discharged. Under Ally’s guidance in 2024, this number dropped to just 5.29%.
The reduction is due to improved communication among medical professionals, improved collaboration with local extended care facilities, home health agencies and other community partners.
“Ally has brought our teams together to focus on what really matters, keeping patients healthy,” said Jenny Simon, Chief Nursing Officer at DCMH. “Her leadership has made a big difference for patients and their families across our community.”
The Outstanding Critical Access Hospital Leadership Award recognizes her remarkable leadership in enhancing healthcare quality and patient outcomes in our rural community.
