(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.) – The Dearborn County Redevelopment Commission has voted against a proposed TIF district in the Dillsboro area.
The proposal to establish the 1,400-acre district was voted down by a 4-3 vote on Wednesday night.
It had been introduced as a way to bring economic development to the Clay Township area while addressing blighted properties in Lake Dilldear.
Redevelopment Commission member Jordan Hoffman was among those who opposed the measure.
"There was quite a bit of public opposition to the proposal and that is certainly something I took into account," Hoffman said.
He added that while the TIF district aligned with the comprehensive plan that was created several years ago, a new comprehensive plan is being developed. Hoffman added that there was also no clear plan on where the additional money would go to.
