Decatur County REMC begins construction of PowerStream Fiber

Will bring fast, reliable internet to new areas

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – Decatur County REMC has started construction of the PowerStream Fiber broadband initiative this week.

Crews have been hanging fiber-optic lines in Ripley County and working their way northwest toward Greensburg.

“This is an exciting moment for our members and our entire community,” said Decatur County REMC CEO Brett Abplanalp. “We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to plan, prepare, and position this project for success. Now, we’re shifting into action.”

You might notice trucks, trailers and specialized equipment in both rural and residential areas during the process.

D&H Contracting is building out the fiber infrastructure, and their crews will be visible throughout the service territory.

“These crews are here to build something that will benefit all of us, so don’t be alarmed if you see unfamiliar vehicles or personnel working in the area. They’re helping us build the future,” Abplanap said.

You can follow along with the construction process by visiting this Decatur County REMC website.

“This marks a major step forward in the cooperative’s ongoing mission to serve its members not just with electricity, but with the tools and technology modern life demands,” Decatur County REMC said.
