Decatur County REMC lineman compete in statewide skills contest

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – Four Decatur County REMC lineman recently competed in the Indiana Electric Cooperative Lineman Rodeo.
Collin Crabtree, Caleb Litmer, Evan Tallent and Joe Vanderbur showcased their skills at the competition in Danville this past weekend.
The team competed in a series of events including pole climbing, hurt man rescue and also electric line hardware changing.
Crabtree finished in second place in the Skill Climb while Litmer finished in second place in Overall Apprentice Lineman and first place in Egg Climb and Hurt Man Rescue.
“Safety and precision are at the heart of what we do, and the rodeo puts those values to the test,” said Brett Abplanalp, CEO of Decatur County REMC. “Our linemen showed they have the expertise and discipline to deliver reliable power and return home safely every day. That’s what matters most.”
There were a total of 35 teams from across Indiana that competed in the event.
