Deputy Chris Maxie announces bid for Franklin County Sheriff

ree

(BROOKVILLE, Ind.) – A Franklin County deputy has announced his intention to run for Franklin County Sheriff in 2026.

Christopher Maxie joined the department as a jail officer in 2020 and was promoted to deputy in 2021.

Since then, I received certification through the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy as a Primary Instructor. I had completed the Active Shooter Threat Instructor Training Program that was accredited by the Federal Law Enforcement Training Accreditation Board with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security,” Maxie said.

He has also received training in several other areas related to law enforcement.

Maxie was awarded a lifesaving medal and Medal of Valor, due to the aid he provided to a defendant and a 2-year-old frostbitten child in 2022.

“As a 30-year resident of Franklin County, I have seen firsthand the importance of strong transparency, and community-based policing. Our county deserves leadership that not only enforces the law but also earns the trust and respect of every person it serves,” he said.

Maxie says he is running for Sheriff to prioritize crime prevention, drug enforcement and youth outreach, while also reducing repeat offenses with programs inside the jail.

He is also advocating for accountable leadership and community engagement, where he hopes to create new channels for public input as well as safety forums.

“This campaign isn’t just about one person it’s about all of us. Together, we can build a department that reflects the values, strength, and integrity of Franklin County Sheriff’s Department,” he said.

Chris is the son of Gary and Bernice Maxie. He has been married to his wife, Amanda, for 16 years and they have three sons.
