Were rescued from Madison home last month

(MADISON, Ind.) – Several dogs who were rescued in an animal cruelty case are now recovering and may soon be up for adoption.
Authorities rescued 13 dogs during a raid in Madison last month.
Investigators say numerous dogs had skin infections and wounds, while several of them did not have potable water and their food was contaminated with feces.
“Dogs were located in kennels that were filled with feces to the point that the dogs were unable to safely stand,” Jefferson County Sheriff Ben Flint said.
59-year-old John Scott was arrested and charged with 17 counts of Animal Cruelty along with numerous other charges.
The dogs were taken to the Jefferson County Animal Shelter where they were evaluated and are now on the path toward full recovery.
“After surviving unthinkable conditions, they are finally safe — and ready to start new lives filled with love, patience, and healing,” the animal shelter stated.
The dogs are primarily Schnauzers and Schnauzer/Airedale mixes and will be soon available for adoption.
Due to their experiences, they have been designated as Hero Dogs.
“Hero Dogs are dogs that need adopters willing to go the extra mile — to work with fear, to build trust, and to be patient every step of the way,” the shelter said.
The dogs will be available for adoption at a cost of $300 per pet.
“This fee reflects the level of care these dogs require and helps ensure their adopters are truly committed to their rehabilitation and long-term well-being,” officials said.
