(VERSAILLES, Ind.) – South Ripley will play a basketball game in the historic Tyson Auditorium for the first time in 17 years.
The Raiders will host North Decatur with a JV tipoff of 6 p.m. on Saturday, December 6.
The auditorium was built in 1950 and was funded by James Tyson, who was a founder of Walgreens.
The 1954 Milan Indians played some games in the gym due to their homecourt being too small. The facility was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.
Presale tickets will be available in the South Ripley High School office beginning Tuesday, December 2 for $6 each during normal school hours. Tickets will also be available at the gate on game night.
South Ripley season ticketholders will receive a ticket at no charge for the game.
“We will be honoring previous SR Varsity Boys Basketball coaches who coached at Tyson during halftime of the Varsity game,” the school announced
The school added that parking will likely be limited and attendees may have to park a few blocks away.
