Dedicated more than three decades to serving the community

(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.) – A fallen Lawrenceburg police officer is being remembered on the anniversary of his passing.
Detective Sergeant Thomas Cochran was a longtime officer who served for 35 years. He had been a member of the Lawrenceburg Police Department since 1995.
Cochran was responding to a call to help another officer when his patrol car hit ice on State Road 48 and he slid off the road on January 25, 2005.
He passed away from his injuries the following day on January 26.
The funeral service was held at Lawrenceburg High School as hundreds of law enforcement officers attended.
Cochran is remembered for his courage and compassion and also having a relentless pursuit of justice.
He was survived by his wife, three daughters, two sons and four grandchildren.
In 2015, the City of Lawrenceburg named the alley behind the police department ‘Thomas Cochran Lane’ in his honor.
