(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – A Greensburg first grader has dealt with numerous medical issues but one thing that hasn’t changed is his big heart.
7-year-old Braxton Hollin has Noonan Syndrome and spent nearly a month in the NICU after being born.
Braxton also has a growth disorder and currently sees a total of 23 doctors on a regular basis due to health concerns.
Last Christmas, he won a bike from Morning Breeze Retirement Community in Decatur County.
“He asked me if he could still take the bike, since it was too big for him, and give it to someone else to make a good Christmas for them,” said Braxton’s mom, Shonda.
A few weeks ago, Braxton told his mother that he found the perfect candidate.
Braxton asked his mother if the bicycle could be given to his classmate, Emmett Ault.
She said yes and the bike exchange took place on the Decatur County Courthouse Square on Sunday afternoon.
Emmett’s mom said, “You don’t see that kind of kindness very often and we were actually in the process of looking for a bike for Emmett.”
Braxton not only handed over the bike, but also helped Emmett’s mom put the bicycle into their car.
“I hope this gives everybody a little glimmer of hope, and give somebody the drive to help someone else, because this little guy has such a big heart to help someone else,” said Braxton’s mom, Shonda.
Here are a few more photos of the bicycle exchange:
