First responders rescue woman who doused herself in gasoline

(VERSAILLES, Ind.) – First responders mitigated what could have been a major incident in Versailles on Saturday morning.
A woman allegedly drenched herself in gasoline intentionally at the Versailles Marathon Gas & Food Mart shortly before 11 a.m.
It led to a brief HAZMAT situation where Versailles firefighters were able to successfully decontaminate the individual before she was taken by ambulance as a precaution.
Other agencies that responded to the incident included the Indiana State Police, Ripley County Sheriff and Ripley County EMS.
Versailles Fire and other area departments routinely conduct HAZMAT trainings to stay prepared for incidents involving gasoline and other chemical spills.
