Six local wrestlers advance to IHSAA State Championship

(NEW CASTLE, Ind.) – Six local wrestlers will compete for an IHSAA State Championship next weekend! 

The Semi-State was held on Saturday as dozens of local wrestlers fought to keep their season alive. 

The 87th IHSAA Boys’ Wrestling State Finals will take place at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis next weekend.

Here is who will advance to the state championship:

Milan

Milan senior Kaleb Wilburn came in with a 39-2 record on the season and advanced in the 157lb weight class.

East Central

East Central sophomores Jaxsin Prater and Brady Wingate both earned a spot to state. Prater competed in the 165lb weight class and Wingate is in the 175lb weight class

Franklin County

Franklin County is sending two wrestlers to state. Seniors Colin Troyer and Cole Freese both advanced in their respective weight classes. 

Switzerland County

Pacers junior Peyton Richards came in with a 32-1 record and advanced in the 138lb weight class. Switzerland County's Semi-State was held in Evansville.
