(BROOKVILLE, Ind.) – A Metamora woman had some unexpected visitors while hunting on Sunday.
Lydia Pettigrew went into the woods around 10:30 a.m. and climbed an 18-foot ladder.
She said it began by a squirrel trying to jump on her shoulder which was followed by a bird trying to land on her head.
Following those encounters, she looked down and received quite a shock.
There was a black snake that measured approximatlely 7-feet long trying to wrap around her boot, while she was 18 feet high in the stand!
Lydia kicked the snake from the deer stand and it fell to the ground. She then decided to climb down.
“To her surprise the snake was climbing back up the ladder two rungs high and she had to jump off the 3rd rung to avoid it,” according to Indiana Wild.
Pettigrew says she has hunted from this stand for several years and this is the first encounter with a snake.
She was able to capture the photo above following the incident.
