Franklin, Switzerland counties issue burn bans

(BROOKVILLE, Ind.) – Two local counties are under a burn ban due to dry conditions. 

Switzerland County issued a county-wide burn ban on Thursday. Franklin County issued a county-wide burn ban on Friday. 

Campfires, open burning and recreational fires are prohibited. 

Burning will be allowed in burn barrels with ¼” mesh top from dawn to dusk. 

Residents could face steep fines if found to be in violation of the burn ban. It will be in effect until further notice.
