(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – A fundraiser is underway for a Batesville man who needs a bone marrow transplant.
31-year-old Cody Stevens was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in May and has identified a donor who is willing to participate in the transplant process.
However, the procedure is in jeopardy due to Cody’s work insurance expiring on July 20.
“We are no longer allowed to continue the transplant process with The Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati. Cody has already been approved for insurance through the state of Indiana, but we will not be able to use that in Ohio,” his partner, Dakota, said.
Stevens will also have to stop working completely due to the medical situation and recovery.
"We are desperate. I am only working 1-3 days a week because we are constantly at appointments. Cody's disability runs out in mere weeks," Dakota said.
Cody’s partner, Dakota, works at Amack’s Well in Batesville and the coffee shop is also stepping up to support the couple.
“Dakota is the barista who remembers your order, keeps things moving, and brings quiet strength to every shift. What many don’t know is that behind that calm presence, she’s been fighting a heartbreaking battle alongside her partner Cody,” Amack’s Well said.
