(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – A fundraiser is underway for a Greensburg teenager who is battling cancer.
15-year-old Isabella Beltran was diagnosed with cancer just days after beginning her freshman year in high school.
She underwent chemotherapy, radiation and multiple surgeries, however the cancer returned.
“Unfortunately, for the most part, this cancer seems to be chemo-resistant. Insurance doesn't want to pay for the medicine she needs to target the mutation in her cells,” her family said.
Due to the rare form of cancer, Isabella has been accepted into a medical trial in New York.
It requires a parent to be with her at all times and her mother and father take turns every two weeks by driving or flying to New York.
A Go Fund Me has been created to help the family be able to travel back-and-forth for the treatments.
“Obviously, we have been/will be missing a lot of work. We will also have to pay for transportation while we're there to get around, food, lodging, all of the things,” the family stated.
They added, “Anything that anyone is willing to donate will help us greatly.”
