(RISING SUN, Ind.) – A fundraiser has been launched for a Switzerland County family who lost their home in a fire.
Amanda Meyer is a sixth grade teacher at Switzerland County Elementary who lives about five minutes from the school.
On Thursday, she was getting ready to go home for lunch when the school resource officer flagged her down in the parking lot.
“He asked what my address was and said he thought my house was on fire,” she recalled.
Meyer arrived home just a few moments later to find their home fully engulfed in flames.
The home was completely destroyed and the family has been forced to rent an AirBnB for the time being.
Meyer and her husband have 6 children and they are working to make life as normal as possible for the kids.
A Go Fund Me has been launched which you can access by clicking here.
"They are insured and are receiving a settlement, but insurance never covers everything. They will be going through the grief of this loss for some time, but the rest of us can help ease the financial strain," the Go Fund Me organizer stated.
