Fundraiser started for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library in Dearborn County

Updated: Feb 23

Was cut from state budget proposal this week

(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.) –The organizers of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library in Dearborn County are asking for community support.

It comes after Indiana lawmakers proposed the latest version of the state budget this week, which currently does not include funding for the Imagination Library program

Governor Mike Braun announced Friday that he has tasked his wife, First Lady Maureen Braun, to spearhead an initiative to keep Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Indiana.

However, BSP Movements, which serves as a local partner for the program, is concerned that the initiative by the First Lady does not secure long-term funding for the imagination library.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a book gifting program that mails free, high-quality books to children from birth to age five, no matter their family’s income.

It has been included in the Indiana budget since 2023. Without state funding, the program will rely solely on private fundraising and philanthropic efforts.

“Currently, the Imagination Library of Dearborn County serves 1,150 children under the age of 5, fostering early childhood literacy and a lifelong love of learning,” said BSP Movements Director Natalie Noppert.

A fundraising campaign has been launched with all the money going toward Dearborn County’s Imagination Library. You can learn more or donate by clicking here.
