(GREENDALE, Ind.) – A Greendale police officer is being recognized after a nice gesture on Saturday night.
The officer was in line at the McDonald’s in Greendale when he bought the meal for the car behind him.
The recipient of the gesture happened to be a local World War II veteran!
George Klopp, Sr. was a passenger in the car that was being driven by his son, George Jr.
“I don’t think the officer had any clue who we were but it was incredibly nice,” he said. "My dad is from a different generation and thought that was really neat."
The identity of the officer is not known, but the Klopp’s want that person to know that it is much appreciated.
“It’s tough to be a cop. When people need you, they want you right away, and then they complain about you when they don't need you. It’s a dangerous job that can change in a split second,” Klopp said.
“They do a great job for us and we have an awesome community,” he added.
