(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – Leadership changes are coming to the Greensburg Municipal Airport.
Jerry Scheidler has served as Airport Manager for 18 years and will now be retiring.
The role will be filled by Gary Bailey who has also served on the Airport Board. Bailey will assume the new position next week.
Longtime board president Bill Ernstes has also announced his retirement.
“During his tenure, Ernstes oversaw historic growth, including runway expansions, facility upgrades, and modernization of airport infrastructure,” the City of Greensburg stated.
He will be replaced by Dr. Jon Dooley who has served as vice president of the board and has been instrumental in the recent strategic developments.
The changes come at a time when the airport is experiencing continued momentum.
Dr. Dooley noted that the foundation laid by his predecessor has prepared the airport for its next phase of service.
“The changes coming to the airport reflect our commitment to progress while maintaining the high standards of our community expects. We are ready for this next flight path,” Dooley said.
Greensburg Mayor Joshua Marsh added, "I am incredibly proud of what has been accomplished, and I look forward to the future of the airport under this new leadership team as we continue to grow Greensburg’s connection to the world.”
The vacancy on the Airport Board created by Bailey’s transition to manager is expected to be filled in the coming weeks.
