Greensburg girl creates bracelet business for good cause

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – A Greensburg girl wanted to purchase new softball gear and her parents told her that she would have to work hard to earn it. 

11-year-old Sutton Owens decided she would make and sell bracelets to raise funds for the equipment. 

Sutton designed the bracelets and even delivered them to her customers. It didn’t take long before she earned enough money all by herself to get the softball gear. 

But, why stop there?

Sutton had exceeded her goal and had extra money. That’s when she got thinking about her grandmother who is a resident of Morning Breeze Retirement Community in Greensburg. 

The fifth grader used the extra funds to make snack bags for the residents at the nursing home. 

She made so many snack bags that she had extras even after the nursing home. So, she gave them to the Greensburg Fire Department and the emergency room personnel at Decatur County Memorial Hospital! 

“Sutton did this with her own money and wanted each resident to feel special. In a world where it can be easy to overlook the little things, she reminds us that a small act of kindness can make a big impact,” said her aunt, Paige. 

Sutton is the daughter of Jared and Jordan Owens, of Greensburg.

How to buy a bracelet

Sutton Faye Strands is still open for business! The custom bracelets feature your choice of color preference and names, initials, or sports numbers. 

They are just $5 per bracelet and another $5 for shipping if applicable. Free local delivery and porch pick ups are also an option.

“She will do her best to get them knocked out in 1-2 weeks but school is her first priority. She’s making these in her spare time on weekends and evenings,” Paige said.
