One of 16 Indiana schools awarded this year

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – Greensburg Junior High School is one of just 16 schools in Indiana to earn the STEM Certification from the Indiana Department of Education.
The designation recognizes the hard work of GCHS staff and students in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education, both inside and outside of the classroom.
To earn the certification, GJHS completed a rigorous application and review process.
The school successfully demonstrated an innovative approach to education, project-based learning, community engagement, entrepreneurship, student-centered classrooms, integration into humanities and related arts and out-of-school STEM activities.
“Earning STEM certification from the Indiana Department of Education is a terrific milestone for Greensburg Junior High School and a reflection of the innovation, dedication, and teamwork that define our school community," said Greensburg Junior High Principal Matt Clifford.
The success of Greensburg Junior High’s STEM program is made possible through the STEM Advisory Board which includes:
● Shawn Green of Green Sign Co.
● Shane Miller of Nipro
● Christy Norton of DCMH
● Carrie Walden from Civil Engineering Solutions
“I also want to recognize parent leader Matt McNulty for his active role on our STEM leadership team and thank our incredible teachers whose hard work and creativity brought this vision to life,” Clifford said. “Together, we’ve built a program that connects learning to life and opens doors to opportunities for every student.”
The Indiana Department of Education’s STEM Certification program was launched in 2015 and the review process will be repeated in five years to maintain the designation.
