(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – A Greensburg resident has signed a letter of intent between Taiwan and the State of Indiana.
Tim Gauck is the president of the Indiana Corn Marketing Council.
He was one of two people who signed a $6 billion agreement to allow Taiwan to purchase corn and soybeans from Indiana farmers over the next four years.
Gauck says this agreement will help Indiana farmers move corn in all forms to customers worldwide.
“This Letter of Intent from Taiwan signals continued interest in purchasing U.S. corn and beef, which is good news for farmers. Corn, of course, is a major feed source for U.S. beef, so international demand for both is a win-win for our corn growers. This reinforces why our checkoff invests in growing and maintaining strong relationships in global markets,” Gauck said.
Denise Scarborough is the chair of the Indiana Soybean Alliance and also signed the letter of intent.
Governor Mike Braun, Lt. Gov. Micah Beckwith, and Indiana State Department of Agriculture Director Don Lamb joined Gauck and Scarborough during the signing ceremony.
