(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – Greensburg junior Harper Adams is planning to take her talents to the Big 10!
The standout pitcher has verbally committed to Purdue University to continue her softball career.
“When I visited campus, the environment was just so welcoming and I met the teammates and coaches and they were so nice, it felt like home,” Adams told The 812.
She added that Purdue’s commitment to student-athletes along with their facilities made the decision even easier.
While Adams has earned the commitment based on her performance, she is not shy about giving credit to those who have helped along the way.
She recognizes her mother and father, James Adams and Jody Robinson, for the sacrifices they’ve made along the way.
“For example, my dad has driven me everywhere, including every single pitching lesson,” she said.
Adams also credits her travel softball coach Troy Sifrit for being an integral part of her development.
“He has taught me the mental aspect of softball. I would give up when I failed, and he would help build my confidence back up,” she said.
“He told me that when you fail, it’s good because you learn from your mistakes,” she added.
Adams still has two more years of high school softball after a dominating sophomore season.
She finished the season with a 0.67 ERA and has broke the school’s all-time season strikeout record in both her freshman and sophomore years.
Harper said that she currently plans to major in accounting or business at Purdue.
