(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – A group of Greensburg High School students are hoping to make fishing easier for those who are missing an arm or a hand.
The four students are Madeline Shrader, Reece Chapman, Logan Meyer and Ashley Kalinowski.
They are part of the Engineering Design and Development class and are embarking on a year-long project.
They are hoping to identify people in Southeast Indiana who like to fish but face challenges due to mobility issues.
“I think this could mean a great deal to a lot of people who are struggling with this issue, it would be great if we can come up with something that changes how someone participates in something they really love,” Kalinowski said.
Logan Meyer added that they’ve spoken to the father of one classmate who faces this issue.
“If we’re able to help more people through this project it would mean a lot,” Meyer said.
Do you know someone who is impacted by this issue? The students have launched a survey which is available by clicking here.
They will use the survey to build a device over the next several months.
